Serif DP has use of arc, spiral and triangle tools which work in the same manner of the image tools described in the previous software applications, allowing there to be no limitations for users. GIMP has use of transformation tools including rotate, scale, shear and flip, these being very efficient and effective for users, Photoshop also has specific tools like the ones named above which allow the users to alter images with easy rotation and scaling options. Photoshop also has use of layers and groupings with advanced layer styles, however, the limitation with Serif DP is that it does not have use of layering’s and groupings, meaning you can only work on one image frame each time. GIMP also has a unique feature in which is named ‘Full Alpha’ this channel supports for working with transparency, this linking with uses of layers as the images being portrayed to the user are made up of multiple images being merged together. Serif DP however does not have as advanced features as both of the other software applications, it only has the basic undo feature, this allowing users to simply undo what they have done, not being able to show the user or preview what the undo effect will do however. Photoshop also has a history tool in which tracks every effect and tool you have used, allowing you to pinpoint exactly back to where you wish. The multiple undo/redo tool GIMP has to offer is ideal for users as it allows them to backtrack through time, this ensuring if a mistake has been made, it is easily fixable. However, the limitation with Serif Drawplus is that it does not has use of these layering and groupings, this majorly being a disadvantage to users as it does not allow them to freely merge layers together and precisely edit one layer to make sure it fits perfectly and sits above another image.
Photoshop also has use of layers and groupings, this is equally as effect due to its user friendliness. GIMP is an open source graphic application in which has unique use of layers and channels, this is ideal for users as it allows them to navigate the software with ease and also reduces amount of human errors that could occur such as confusion.
